“…Again I want to thank and compliment you on the work, from the designer to the finished product. I wouldn’t have thought to hire a designer for the addition myself, as the space seemed pretty well defined by the existing roofline, and if I had designed the master bath myself we would have had a cramped space with falling hairbrushes and banged elbows. I still don’t quite know how she did it, but out of the same space we got a spacious luxury bath with an extra closet to boot. We love it, along with the new study, the two redone bedrooms and kitchen remodeling.

One of the things I have especially appreciated about working with Acorn over the years is the attention to detail. The crew approached every aspect of the job, from the big (a whole new structure) to the small (realigning a drooping old drawer), with the same craftsmanship. Remodeling an old house often calls for creativity as well as skill, and I’m grateful for Mark’s gifts at both. The entire crew, both carpenters and subcontractors, were excellent, and I can’t imagine that you could employ a better lead carpenter or foreman that Mark, who in addition to his professional skills is an exceptional person, considerate, discreet, and very good humored. I was a pleasure to have him in our house.

I think that’s quite a recommendation considering the length of time we were disrupted – which was precisely the amount of time you were projected when we began to discuss the project. I don’t know anyone who has engaged another contractor and been able to report that the work was done on schedule.

It’s a recommendation I’d be glad to pass on to anyone; Acorn does excellent work at a reasonable price without unnecessary delays and disruption.

“Some people might think this is a “Dear John” letter, but it is far from being that! In truth, is it a thank you letter, for the best association we have ever had with a company doing work for us at our home.
John, let us thank you for a professional contract with a detailed and complex remodeling project. The attention you gave on quoted cost in each area of work far exceeded any we have ever had in the past. We actually knew what to expect in the beginning and did not have any surprises in the end. This made our budget a very workable one (we thank you for that).

The supervisor you chose to run our job, Mark Bolens, and his lead support person, Scott, was a great choice. We really enjoyed being around them, my mother-in-law felt very safe, knowing they were on the job. From the type of work Mark did, we never had to worry. We knew it would be very exceptional (above par, almost perfect). Mother was always happy to know that they would share lunch with her in her new room. This made for a good friendly relationship when other subs were in the house. Mother saidthat Janice and I need to find more money for more projects so she could see Mark and Scott more often. Ha Ha! As a result, we hope to do more with Acorn Construction in the future.

“I wanted to take a moment to thank you for a job well done in our kitchen. Although there are a (very) few loose ends, I wanted to go ahead and take this opportunity to tell you what a pleasure it was working with Mark (and Scott too). Mark is very professional, a hard worker, and at least to my “untrained” eye a very skilled carpenter. I was amazed at what he did in installing our new door! He was also eager to make sure that I was pleased with the work done and was very kind to our five-year-old son, John. You are blessed to have him as an employee.

Also, I wanted to let you know that I was very pleased with the cabinetry work done by Bob Bistyga.

There was a slight problem with the new doors fitting under the cabinet, but he promptly and pleasantly took care of it.

“Kathy and I want to thank you, Mark and Scott for this beautiful addition. It exceeded our expectations. The additional space in the bedroom, plus the new closet and bath made this old house more modern and created a truly beautiful master suite. The view from our bed through the French doors and bay window to the patio/garden is often filled with birds, as we had hoped. The built-in bookcase is a nice touch. And we like the light from the Solar Tubes in the closet and bath.
